The Journey Begins: We’ll pick you up in the morning from Izmir Airport, Izmir city center, Selcuk, or Kusadasi.
Smyrna: Our first stop is the ancient Agora of Smyrna (modern Izmir). This was a church praised for its faithfulness despite persecution.
Pergamon: We then drive north to the massive ruins of Pergamon. You’ll see the Acropolis, the steepest theater in the ancient world, and the site of the Altar of Zeus.
Overnight: We spend the evening in the town of Bergama.
Thyatira: After breakfast, we visit Thyatira (modern Akhisar), a city once famous for its purple dyes.
Sardis: We continue to Sardis, the capital of the ancient Lydian Kingdom. You’ll explore the massive gymnasium and the historic Jewish Synagogue.
Philadelphia: Next is Philadelphia, the “City of Brotherly Love,” known for its endurance.
Pamukkale & Hierapolis: We end the day at the white terraces of Pamukkale and the ancient city of Hierapolis. You’ll have time to see the Roman baths and the thermal pools before we settle in for the night in a Pamukkale hotel.
Laodicea: We start with Laodicea, the “Lukewarm Church.” It is a vast archaeological site that shows the incredible wealth of the city in the 1st century.
Ephesus: After lunch in Selcuk, we spend the afternoon at Ephesus, the most famous of the seven churches. You’ll walk the Marble Street, see the Library of Celsus, and stand in the Grand Theater.
St. John’s Basilica: Our final stop is the Basilica of St. John, believed to be the burial site of the Apostle John.
End of the Tour: In the evening, we’ll drop you off at Izmir Airport (ADB) or your hotel, concluding this historic journey.
