Salda Lake and Sagalassos Antique City Tour from Pamukkale

From the “Turkish Maldives” to the Peaks of the Taurus Mountains

This tour takes you away from the usual crowds and deep into the dramatic landscapes of the Taurus Mountains. We combine the tropical-looking shores of Salda Lake with the ancient grandeur of Sagalassos, a city that sits higher than almost any other Roman site in Turkey. At Puerto Travel, we love this trip because it feels like a real exploration—moving from crystal-clear waters to ancient theaters tucked away in the clouds.

What to Expect: We start at Salda Lake, famous for its bright white sand and many different shades of blue water. It’s a protected natural park and one of the cleanest lakes in the world. After we enjoy the lakeside, we climb high into the mountains to reach Sagalassos. This city was a powerhouse in the Roman era, famous for its high-quality pottery and incredible architecture. Today, it is so well-preserved that you can still see the original fountains and theaters standing tall against the mountain backdrop.

Morning Pick-up: We’ll pick you up from your hotel in Pamukkale or Karahayit. The drive to the lake is about 100 km, and our professional minivans make it a comfortable, scenic ride through the countryside.
Salda Lake (The Turkish Maldives): We’ll spend time walking along the white sands and exploring the unique rock formations. The water is incredibly clear, making it the perfect spot for photography. It’s easy to see why people compare this place to the Maldives!
Lunch Break: We’ll stop for lunch near the lake, enjoying a meal before we start our ascent into the mountains.
Sagalassos Antique City: Next, we head to Sagalassos. Sitting at an altitude of nearly 1,500 meters, this city was a wealthy metropolis. You’ll explore the State Agora, the Roman Baths, and the Theater. The highlight for many is the Antonine Fountain, where the water still flows just as it did thousands of years ago.
Return or Forward Transfer: After the tour, we’ll drive you back to your hotel in Pamukkale. However, because Sagalassos is on the way to other major hubs, we can also organize your transfer to Antalya or Cappadocia directly from the tour. Just let the Puerto Travel team know your plans in advance!
