Cappadocia Pamukkale Ephesus Tour Details
Cappadocia is located in central Anatolia and it is one of the most mysterious places in Turkey. Christian sources mention Cappadocia throughout history. Cappadocians were occupying a large area in the region from Mount Taurus to The Black Sea in the time of Herodotus. Cappadocia’s highlights are the unique natural beauty of Fairy Chimneys, underground cities and natural beauties. There are many rock cut monasteries, chapels and churches in Cappadocia. It is not only the natural rock formations makes Cappadocia an interesting place. It is also important how people of the area use those natural rock formations as sanctuaries, homes, hiding places, churches and houses. Goreme Open Air Museum and Ihlara Valley has many interesting examples of them.
Pamukkale is a UNESCO World Heritage site located in Denizli province of Turkey. Pamukkale can simply be translated as “Cotton Castle” and the name inspired by the natural terraced basins full of hot spring water and petrified as white calcium terraces. They look white as the color of rich calcium in the water coming from 17 different underground water sources. Pamukkale was an ancient healing center, because people believed the hot water of white terraces have healing powers. Hierapolis Antique city built right next to this ancient healing center and became a rich city. Today, you can visit Pamukkale, lie down in the hot waters and enjoy the healing powers of this ancient healing center.
Hierapolis was a rich Greco Roman city, famous with textile products and cloths trade and of course the healing center right next to the city. There are many remains today, Necropolis, Amphitheater, Temple of Apollo, Roman Baths, Domitian Gate, Agora still amaze the visitors. The necropolis was the first commercial necropolis of its time. There was a large Jewish community in Pamukkale and the city has importance for early Christians as well. Tomb of St. Philip and St. Philips Martrydom is in Hierapolis. Although it is not clear if it is the tomb of Apostle Philip or Philip the Evangelist, it was an important pilgrimage site for Christians. Apart from the other remains, Cleopatra pool in Hierapolis provides a unique experience to those who wish to enjoy the warm water among the ancient columns.
Ephesus is another UNESCO World Heritage site in western Turkey. Ephesus dating back 10th century BC comprises succesive Helenistic and Roman settlements founded on new locations. In early Christian Era , Ephesus was an important religous center as one of the Seven Churches addressed in the Book of Revelations by Apostle John. The church of Virgin Mary is the first temple dedicated to Mother Mary in Christian World. Around Ephesus, Virgin Mary’s House which is the settlement where Mother Mary lived her last years and Basilica of St. John still important for Christian Community. Also Artemis Temple, sanctuary of Ephesian Artemis was one of the largest and most powerful santuaries of the ancient world and it was the center of the first settlement of Ephesus.
Cappadocia Pamukkale Ephesus Tour Program
4 Days Turkey tour package starting from Pamukkale and visiting Hierapolis Antique City, White Pools of Pamukkale, Ephesus Antique City, Virgin Mary’s House and Artemis Temple, Cappadocia, Goreme Open Air Museum, Ihlara Valley and Derinkuyu Underground Settlement.
Day 1: Pamukkale and Hierapolis Tour (Lunch)
- We will meet you at Denizli Airport and drive you to Pamukkale for Pamukkale and Hierapolis Tour.
- We will visit Hierapolis Antique City and see Necropolis, Roman Bahts, Domitian Gate, Latrina, Oil Factory, Frontinious Street, Agora, Byzantium Gate, Triton Fountain, Cathedral, Apollon Temple, Plutonium, Theater, Antique Pool.
- After Hierapolis, we will walk down to Pamukkale and spend time on white pools of Pamukkale. You can relax in hot waters of Pamukkale, take photos and enjoy this natural wonder.
- We will have lunch in a local resturant.
- After tour, we will drive to Kusadasi and overnight in Kusadasi.
Day 2: Ephesus Tour (Breakfast – Lunch)
- We will pick you up from your hotel after breakfast. We will drive to Ephesus.
- We will start our tour with Virgin Mary’s House, where Mother Mary spend her last years.
- Afterwards, we will drive to Ephesus Antique City and visit Celsus Library, Agora, The Theater, Odeon, Trajan Fountain, Domitianus Temple and Roman Latrines.
- After lunch in a local restauran, we will visit Artemis Temple, one of the seven wonders of ancient world.
- After tour we will drive you to Izmir Airport for your flight to Cappadocia.
- Upon arrival to Cappadocia, we will meet you at the airport and drive you to your hotel. Overnight in Cappadocia.
Day 3: Northern Cappadocia Tour (Breakfast – Lunch)
- We will pick you from your hotel after breakfast and we start our tour.
- We wil visit Devrent Valley, Monk’s Valley, Avanos Village and Pottery Workshops.
- After lunch we will visit Uchisar Castle for a panoramic view of Cappadocia.
- After we visit Goreme Open Air Museum, we will drive back to your hotel. Overnight in Cappadocia.
Day 4: Southern Cappadocia Tour (Breakfast – Lunch)
*** Optional Hot Air Balloon Ride in the morning.
- We will pick you up from your hotel after breakfast for the tour.
- First we will visit Derinkuyu Underground Settlement.
- After Derinkuyu we will drive to Ihlara Valley. We will have 4 kms walk through Ihlara Valley and see some of the churches and caves in the valley.
- We will have lunch in a local restaurant and drive to Belisirma Village. We will see the ruins of Byzantine Churches and visit Selime Monastery carved inside a cave.
- After we visit Nar Lake, we will drive to airport for your flight back to Istanbul.
