Pamukkale is a UNESCO World Heritage site located in Denizli province of Turkey. Pamukkale can simply be translated as “Cotton Castle” and the name inspired by the natural terraced basins full of hot spring water and petrified as white calcium terraces. They look white as the color of rich calcium in the water coming from 17 different underground water sources. Today, you can visit Pamukkale, lie down in the hot waters and enjoy the healing powers of this ancient healing center.
Hierapolis was quite a popular city during Hellenistic period. A rich Greco Roman city, famous with textile products and cloths trade and of course the healing center right next to the city. There are many remains today, Necropolis, Amphitheater, Temple of Apollo, Roman Baths, Domitian Gate, Agora still amaze the visitors. Also a temple built in the name of Apostle Philip (or Philip the Evangelist, it is not clear) is sited on the hill over Pamukkale and Tomb of St. Philippe made Hierapolis an important city in early Christian Era. Apart from the other remains, Cleopatra pool in Hierapolis provides a unique experience to those who wish to enjoy the warm water among the ancient columns.
Salda Lake is a beautiful mineral rich volcanic crater lake surrounded with white sandy beach and white magnesium rocks. Because of the similarity with a lake in mars, Salda lake became famous around the world. Also it is called as “Turkish Maldives” because of white sandy beaches and many colors of blue in the mineral rich waters of the lake. Salda Lake is one of the most instagrammed spots in Turkey.
Sagalassos is built high in the Taurus mountains. A wealthy Roman city, famous with potteries produced. Sagalassos was surrounded with fertile soil and generous clay deposits and during Roman era became a metropolis. Today it is almos completely preserved and a very unique example of the Roman cities.
Laodicea is one of the Seven Churches addressed at the Book of Revelations, located 10 kms from Pamukkale, a wealthy Greco Roman city. The church of Laodicea mentioned in the Bible several times. Laodicea church is called lukewarm and insipid in the book of revelations. Laodicea was a wealthy city, famous with manufacturing and trading cloths and textine products. Despite destroyed by earthquakes many times, citizens of the city rebuilt Laodicea. Today you can see Council Building, Stadium, and Gymnasium, Monumental nymphaeum, Zeus Temple, Small and large theatres.
Aphrodisias is a UNESCO World Heritage Site in southwestern Turkey. Aphrodisias city founded at 2nd century BC as a city-state. Aphrodisias had a cult image of goddess Aphrodite, city has colose relationships with Rome and obtained a privileged “tax-free” political status so they developed a strong artistic and sculptural tradition. The sculpture artist from Aphrodisias always sought out in Rome. The rich marble quary supplied the necessary marble for sculpture school and Aphrodisias thrived during the imperial period. Today Aphrodisias is one of the best preserved antique cities in Turkey and blending Greek and Roman traditions, themes and iconography, Aphrodisias became a UNESCO World Heritage Site.
Ephesus is another UNESCO World Heritage site in western Turkey. Ephesus dating back 10th century BC comprises succesive Helenistic and Roman settlements founded on new locations. In early Christian Era , Ephesus was an important religous center as one of the Seven Churches addressed in the Book of Revelations by Apostle Paul. The church of Virgin Mary is the first temple dedicated to Mother Mary in Christian World. Around Ephesus, Virgin Mary’s House which is the settlement where Mother Mary lived her last years and Basilica of St. John still important for Christian Community. Also Artemis Temple, sanctuary of Ephesian Artemis was one of the largest and most powerful santuaries of the ancient world and it was the center of the first settlement of Ephesus.
4 Days West Turkey Tour Package Program
4 Days Turkey tour package starting from Denizli Airport and visiting Salda Lake, Sagalassos Antique City, Pamukkale and Hierpolis, Laodicea and Aphrodisias Antique Cities, Ephesus Antique City, Virgin Mary’s House and Artemis Temple. The natural wonders and historical heritage of the western Turkey.
Day 1: Salda Lake and Sagalassos Antique City (Lunch)
- We will meet you at Denizli Airport and drive to Salda Lake.
- You will have free time to explore the natural life around lake, take photos at the one of the most instagrammed spots in Turkey or just relax at white sandy beach.
- After lunch in a local restaurant, we will drive to Sagalassos Antique City which is almost completely preseved.
- In Sagalassos we will visit the state agora, fountains, theater, baths, heroon and temples.
- After tour we will drive to Pamukkale and overnight in Pamukkale.
Day 2: Pamukkale and Hierapolis Tour (Breakfast – Lunch)
- Pick up from your hotel in the morning for your tour.
- We will visit Hierapolis Antique City a beautiful Greco Roman city and see Necropolis, Roman Bahts, Domitian Gate, Latrina, Oil Factory, Frontinious Street, Agora, Byzantium Gate, Triton Fountain, Cathedral, Apollon Temple, Plutonium, Theater, Antique Pool.
- After Hierapolis, we will walk down to Pamukkale and spend time on white pools of Pamukkale. You can relax in hot waters of Pamukkale, take photos and enjoy this natural wonder or you can dip into the hot waters of Pamukkale at Antique Pool.
- After having lunch in a local restaurant, we will visit Red Water Hot Springs in Karahayit and we will drive you to your hotel in Pamukkale. Overnight in Pamukkale.
Day 3: Laodicea and Aphrodisias Tour (Breakfast – Lunch)
- We will pick you up from your hotel after breakfast. We will drive to Laodicea Antique City.
- In Laodicea we will visit Council Building, Stadium, and Gymnasium, Monumental nymphaeum, Zeus Temple, Small and large theatres and drive to Aprodisias.
- Upon arrival we will have lunch in a local restaurant and visit Aphrodisias Antique City.
- In Aphrodisias we will see Sebasteion, Theater, Agora, Tiberius Portico, Hadrian Baths, Bishop Palace, Aphrodite Temple, Odeon, Stadium, Tetraphylon. We will also visit Aphrodisias museum.
- Afterwards, we will drive to Kusadasi. Overnight in Kusadasi.
Day 4 : Ephesus Tour (Breakfast – Lunch)
- We will pick you up from your hotel after breakfast. We will drive to Ephesus.
- We will start our tour with Virgin Mary’s House, where Mother Mary spend her last years.
- Afterwards, we will drive to Ephesus Antique City and visit Celsus Library, Agora, The Theater, Odeon, Trajan Fountain, Domitianus Temple and Roman Latrines.
- After lunch in a local restauran, we will visit Artemis Temple, one of the seven wonders of ancient world.
- After tour we will drive you to Izmir Airport for your flight back Istanbul.
